2009 Armada
Coaches
Head Coach Elisa Chapa
Coach Elisa joins the WBA after serving as an assistant coach for Forest North
for several years. Originally from San Antonio, she swam summer league and club
for 10 years, and coached for 3 seasons there as well. Currently, she is a
teacher at Walsh Middle School in Round Rock where she teaches English as a
Second Language (ESL) to 6th, 7th and 8th graders. She can't wait for the
summer! She is looking forward to getting to know all the Armada- so be sure to
introduce yourself if you havent already!
Coach Gina
Spataro-Zayas
Coach Gina is in her 11th year as a WBA coach. She graduated from Texas A&M
University with a degree in early childhood education. Coach Gina taught
reading & kindergarten beforebecoming a stay-at-home mom. She has two sons,
Riley and Luke.
Coach Andi Lewis
Andi Lewis is returning for a third year as an Armada coach. She has just
completed her sophomore year at Angelo State University in San Angelo, Texas.
She is a biology major and works on campus as a lifeguard. During the summer,
she will work both as an Armada coach and a lifeguard for Wells Branch.
Coach Lauren
Loesch
Lauren is returning to the WBA this year after several years away while she was
completing her degree and finding her place in the business world. Lauren
earned a degree from Texas State University and is working locally.
Coach Bethany
Libby
After several years as a junior coach, Bethany joins the staff this year.
Bethany has been a WBA swimmer for many years and is looking forward to being a
coach. She is currently taking classes at ACC.
Coach Bryn
Lewis
Bryn brings a wealth of swimming experience to her role as a first year coach
for the WBA. She has swam with the WBA for 8 years and holds 17 records, she is
a 3-time record holder for the Round Rock High School Dragons and is a member
of the AquaTex Swim Team. Bryn will be attending the University of North Texas
in Denton this fall where she will be a member of the university's "Mean
Green" swim team.
Coach Jim
Robertson
Jim is an accomplished distance swimmer with the University of Texas Swim Team
where he is a junior. Coach Jim specializes in the 500 Free, 1,000 Free, 1,650
Free. He has competed in the U.S. Olympic Trials, the 2007 USA Swimming
National Championships and the Big 12 Championships. In high school, he was a
7-time all-state selection.
Coach Anna
Brunson
Joining Armada as a coach for the first time this summer, Anna began swimming
at the age of three with Coach Aubrey Knapper on Texas Gold Club Team then also
on Armada for 6 years, still holding records on our record board. Also a
district 2007-2008 Gold Champion in the 100 Meter Breast, Anna proceeded to
final in Regionals Swim Meet for her varsity team at McNeil High School. She
has been a swim instructor with Wells Branch MUD for four summers and enjoys
working with kids! She now attends Texas State University in San Marcos in
hopes of graduating with a degree in Sports Medicine or Health Administration.
