A huge Armada team
effort resulted in victory Saturday when the WBA won the Divisional
Championship trophy for the first time since 2002 - eight years!
The number of time
improvements we had at both Divisionals and Invitationals tells the story -- we
had many, many super swims and efforts.
Congratulations to
our swimmers, our coaches, our board and our amazing parents who all worked
really hard this year. |

Congratulations to
the parents, coaches, and swimmers for another fantastic Armada season! What an
ending we had at our Divisional Meet on Saturday! Our swimmers clearly came
prepared to give it their best effort - new records, widespread time
improvements, many new Invitational qualifiers, and 1st place in the meet will
all make Saturday a day to remember for the Armada. Way to go!
Congratulations
also to those who swam in Invitationals on Sunday. It is always a treat to swim
at the Texas Swim Center, especially if it's your first time, and the Armada
had a great showing at this fun and exciting meet.
If you haven't
already, please take a moment to fill out our
Parent
Survey so we can continue to improve as a team.
I very much enjoyed
working with you all this year, and I'm already looking forward to 2011.
Have a great
summer! Paul

Hey Armada
Champions!!
Congratulations to
the swimmers, parents, and coaches for an amazing swim season and a divisional
championship! It wasn't just the fact that we won, but the fire and
determination in the eyes of all of our swimmers was so inspiring. I am so
incredibly proud of each and every swimmer for putting your very best into the
meets this past Saturday and Sunday. What a summer! 12 records broken? That's
insane! I have never seen so many kids qualify for invitationals at one meet
either. Way to give it your all, Armada, you definitely deserve it.
I hope that all of
you come back again next summer, and I hope some of you get more involved in
the sport of swimming. It's a wonderful and rewarding sport to be a part of and
there are many different year round programs you can join. Good luck to those
swimmers doing high school swimming in the fall and spring- continue to push
yourself to new levels.
It's been an
absolute pleasure being your head coach again- it's easy when I have an amazing
coaching staff and and even more amazing group of kids.
Have a successful
school year and I'll see you at the pool next May!!
GO ARMADA!!

What a surprise
Saturday -- that victory just snuck right up on me! Wow WBA -- just
WOW!
Beyond the Trophy,
I was super impressed with our team. That was the best run meet ever! It could
not have been better. A big "thank-you" to every volunteer - you were
fantastic!
Concessions:
Could it have been any better? So much work went into the menu . We
received compliments from both visiting teams. This effort was headed by Donny
and Trish Koester, Angelica and Todd Stehling, Jeff Hale and Abigail and
Stewart Scruggs
Ready Bench:
I think this is the hardest job we have. Our crew, headed by Tonda Turner, did
a fantastic job. Love the orange cones. Thanks to each of your for organizing
the chaos.
Pit Parents:
Headed by Shannon Black, this group of volunteers has the fun and tough job of
keeping all the swimmers happy and organized. I know it is easier on some days
than others but you all do a great job of making it look fun and
easy.
Computers:
Glen Taffinder has been running our computers forever (he is Coach Bethany's
dad). and thanks to a big age difference in his kids (he has a 4-year-old) he
will hopefully be running them for years and years. He is always willing to do
what is right for the swimmers and makes my job so much easier.
Announcers:
Our team of starters and announcers stand on their feet for hours and hours and
do a wonderful job. Thanks to Paul Wadehra, Debbie Dalke, Kenny Boylan and
Scott Casper.
Timers: Mary
Hale is closely aided by Ty Lehman and Steve Hammack. Thanks to each timer for
standing and sweating while doing your best to record accurate times. We
couldn't do it without you.
Judges: This
crew is out in direct sun for hours and hours each meet with the hard task of
DQing those cute little 6 and under butterflyers . Many thanks to Beth Gavin
and crew for being willing to do the required extra training and being on your
feet in the hot sun week after week.
Parking:
Thank you Matt Gavin!
Volunteer
Coordinator: Jeannie Boylan does an amazing job of getting the volunteers
organized and into their positions on meet day.
Set-up/Tear
Down: Many thanks to those who come the night before to move all the
furniture and get the pool ready and huge thanks to those that stay after the
meet in the hot, hot sun to return the pool to order.
Scoring,
Ribbons, Swim Shop: Thank you for all your efforts. Very important jobs
done with dedication!

More experienced swimmers know that swimming is really about
the time you take off, not 'who' you beat. And WOW, Armada swimmers dropped
time left and right this weekend! We are so proud of the hard work all the
swimmers (and coaches) put in this season. Congratulations to all the swimmers
who came to give their best this weekend! Divisionals
