Message from the Board

What a great meet we had with Balcones Country Club. The cloud cover we had for most of the meet made it very comfortable, and the meet itself was very competitives. Thanks to all of you parents and swimmers for taking part.

This Saturday we will be back home to host the Steiner Ranch B team, the following Tuesday will be our Swim-a-thon, and then the Saturday after that we will be hosting Anderson Mill. So it will be a busy couple of weeks for us at the pool!

The Swim-a-thon and Silent Auction is Tuesday, June 22, and is a great time. Free food and drinks for everyone, music, door prizes, raffles, and great items in the Silent Auction. Look for the envelope in your folder, and I look forward to seeing everyone there.

Stroke clinics started last week. They are $10 for 30 minutes, and the kids will receive focused instruction on strokes, turns, and dives. Sign up in the book at the pool.

You can contact me with questions at board@wbarmada.org. For more team information, check our website at www.wbarmada.org.

Message from the Coaches.....

Hi Armada Parents and Swimmers!

Another great week, and meet under our belt. I appreciate those that turned in their MAFs on time, and we will work to make sure we have the best entries as possible for the next meet. Please continue to be flexible as the coaches make sure we put the team in the events that will be great for you personally, and collectively as a team. Like I said before, you might swim something you don't really like, and surprise yourself!

On the meet Saturday we had way too many people not show up without notice, or leave early without reason. We understand things come up, but PLEASE don't commit to coming and then back out. You are not making it hard for just the coaches, but for your relay, and for the computer people. Plus, we want you there! The coaches really do miss you when you are gone :)

I'm so proud of the hard work people have been putting in at practices. Bring water to practice and meets to hydrate yourself, and keep up the good work- it will pay off!

Don't forget to get donors for the Swim A Thon coming up! This is a night that you do not want to miss! There will be plenty of food, fun and prizes!

See ya at the pool!
Coach Elisa

Parking
We ask that Armada Parents park in the parking lot across the street. The Pool parking lot is restricted on meet days to allow the visiting team access. If you have handicapped tags, please let the parking attendants know. Please respect the "no parking" signs where posted.

Meet Set-up Friday, June 18 at 8:30 pm
For a home meet, we must move all tables and chairs and put out ready benches, ropes and the announcer tables. If you signed up as part of the setup team for your volunteer assignment please be at the pool then. The morning of the meet, we need help setting up pop-up tents around the pool. We appreciate all the help we can get putting these tents up and taking them down at the end of the day.

Clean Up
We ask everyone to clean up the pit and pool areas before they leave. We are having too many items in the lost/found.

MAF Due Friday

The Meet Attendance Form for the home meet hosting Anderson Mill is due Friday, June 18. Please put in the "completed" folder in the MAF Box. Do not return to your own folder.

EVERY swimmer should turn these forms in by the deadline. Mark the box indicating if you will swim or not.

We want all swimmers who are able to swim the length of the pool unassisted to participate in all meets. Swim Meets are an important part of being on the WBA. (We understand if you are out-of-town or unable to participate due to religious reasons.) We are a team - we need you!

This is a home meet but the arrival time will be between 5:45 and 6 am. We will determine that after seeing how large their team is.

Swim-A-Thon

Come join the fun at the annual Wells Branch Armada Swim-A-Thon on Tuesday, June 22nd from 6pm - 9pm at the Willow Bend pool. There will be lap swimming, refreshments, music, door prizes, raffles, a silent auction, and a whole lot of fun! Papa Murphy's will be there grilling up pizza once again this year … YUMM!! We will also have hot dogs, chips (thank you Schlotzski's), icee's and popcorn! We will also be selling raffle tickets for an IPOD Touch that we will have the drawing for at the Awards Banquet!

The Swim-A-Thon is our annual fundraiser to offset the cost of running our fantastic swim team! Ask your family and friends to sponsor you as you swim laps to raise money for the WBA. They can sponsor you based on the number of laps you swim or a flat donation.

The grand prizes will be awarded to the top three swimmers who raise the most funds.
1st place - $150 gift card
2nd place - $125 gift card
3rd place - $100 gift card

Movie tickets will be awarded to individual swimmers who raise $100 in funds. Their will be two drawings for a $25 Academy gift card for all kids 8 and under that swim 50 laps and for all kids that swim 100 laps. All swimmers attending will receive a free Gattiland buffet ticket regardless of age!

The grand prizes and the movie tickets are per swimmer, not per family. Each child that is interested in trying for the grand prizes or movie tickets should have their own sponsorship envelope. There will be extras located in the front of the swimmer's file box in a folder marked Swim-A-Thon. The prizes will be awarded at the WBA Awards Ceremony on Wednesday, July 14th.

Swim-A-Thon money must be turned in by July 7th to be eligible for prizes. A board member will collect the envelopes during all swim practices on Wednesday, July 7th. You can turn the envelopes in at any time to a board member. Collection envelopes were put in family folders.

Volunteers are needed to work the popcorn and snow cone machines, swimmers check-in table, setup and cleanup. If you are interested in volunteering please contact Mary Hale at 789-3903 or email to mjhale@austin.rr.com.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT!!! .
