We had an excellent
meet with the Steiner Ranch Blue Stars on Saturday. It was a fun and
competitive meet as always. I saw many swimmers achieve personal bests. As a
team, the WBA is now 2-2 for the season.
On Tuesday from 6-9
pm at our pool is the annual swim-a-thon fundraiser. It's a great time with
free food, music, and prizes, and very important to keep the swim team running.
Don't miss it!
We had over 100
people sign up for the Volente Beach fun day on July 5! It will be a great time
and I look forward to seeing so many of you there. If you missed the deadline
but want to join us, you can still buy tickets for regular price at the gate.
This Saturday we
have another home meet, against a strong Anderson Mill team. We had a great
turnout for the Steiner Meet; let's keep it going with Anderson Mill.
On July 3 we have a
bye week (no meet), and then on July 10 we have our last dual meet of the
season, at Pflugerville. The following Saturday, July 17, we host Divisionals
at the Willow Bend Pool, where Block House Creek and Balcones Country Club will
return for our three-team post-season meet. To swim at Divisionals, a swimmer
must have participated in at least two dual meets and have a legal time (no DQ)
in the event.
The following day,
July 18, is Invitationals, where qualifying swimmers from all 12 teams in the
circuit will compete at the UT Swim Center. Swimmers, you have three more
chances to qualify for this fun meet!
You can contact me
with questions at board@wbarmada.org.
For more team information, check our website at www.wbarmada.org. |
Hi Armada Parents
and Swimmers!
Congratulations on
an EXCELLENT meet against Steiner Ranch B! The coaches are so proud of the hard
work you guys are putting in the pool- it's paying off big time! We had many
swimmers with personal bests- meaning, the fastest they have ever gone in their
whole life! Way to go! Keep up the hard work, it definitely shows.
A couple things
coming up very soon- Swim-a-thon is tonight from 6-9 at the pool. Come out for
pizza, free prizes and a silent auction, plus much more! Last year I had an
absolute blast, and I have no doubt this year will do the same. If anything,
come cool off at the pool and hang out with your friends!
We are going to
Volente Beach on July 5th, so there will be no practice that day. Come out and
have some fun with the team and kick back a little.
We don't have very
many meets for the rest of the season, so make sure you sign up for the rest of
them. Divisionals is our huge meet of the season, so we hope to see each and
everyone out there representing the Armada. Every swimmer makes a difference
and supports the team!
Keep up the hard
work in the next couple weeks, and we'll see everyone out tomorrow night for
the Swim-a-thon!
See ya at the
pool! Coach Elisa coach@wbarmada.org |

Early Start
We have to
have a 7 a.m. start for this meet to be finished as close to 1 p.m. as
possible. Anderson Mill is a large team and we are projecting a finish time of
around 1:30 p.m. by starting at 7. The older kids will warm-up first to give
the younger ones a chance to wake up a bit. It is important to be on time so we
can get the meet started on time.
Concession Donations
We invite the
parents of 9-10 year olds to donate to the concession stand this week. Baked
goods and fresh, cut-up fruit are recommended.
Parking
We ask that
Armada Parents park in the parking lot across the street. The Pool parking
lot is restricted on meet days to allow the visiting team access. If you have
handicapped tags, please let the parking attendants know. Please respect the
"no parking" signs where posted.
Meet Set-up Friday, June 25 at 8:30 pm Volunteers should
arrive no later than 8:30 pm
Clean Up
We ask
everyone to clean up the pit and pool areas before they leave. We are having
too many items in the lost/found. |

River Oak
Photography is a professional swimming photography company that will be
attending our swim meet on June 26 versus Anderson Mill. They offer action
photography of your swimmer and will donate 25% of their sales to the WBA. They
work on a reservation basis only (not all swimmers will be photographed).
Therefore, if you are interested in action photos of your swimmer stop by their
retail booth at the north end of the pool and sign up.
A reservation is
$10 per heat and guarantees you 10-30 color-corrected and edited shots of your
swimmer depending on the length of the race. After the meet, they will send you
an email with a direct link to your swimmers gallery on their website . On
their website is where you buy prints.
If you have any
questions, please visit their website at jim@riveroakphotography.com or contact
Jim Diffly at jim@riveroakphotography.com.

We want all
swimmers who are able to swim the length of the pool unassisted to participate
in all meets. Swim Meets are an important part of being on the WBA. (We
understand if you are out-of-town or unable to participate due to religious
reasons.) We are a team - we need you!

Gattiland is so supportive of
teams and schools in our area - including being very generous with the Wells
Branch Armada for many years. Let's all meet at Gattiland on June 27 for
pizza and a great evening!
It is a buffet style restaurant that features
salad, pasta, pizza and desert items. There is also a gameroom with games for

Each week the WBA honors the swimmers in each age group that
record the largest time improvement. In swimming, the goal is to try to beat
your previous best time each week by recording a new personal best. Great
job against Steiner Ranch!!!
