Message from the Board

Many thanks to all of you who participated in the meet with Block House Creek and made a successful meet. We had lots of time improvements, 23 Invitational qualifiers, and we defeated the Tidal Waves in the meet.

There were three team records broken Saturday! Logan O'Reilly set new Armada records for the 11-12 25 yard freestyle (a record that has stood for 15 years) and the boys 11-12 100 yard IM (beating the record he set himself last season). Felix Zuo broke the record for the boys 13-14 50 yard breaststroke. Congratulations Logan and Felix!

We appreciated your patience while the Tidal Waves worked through the growing pains of using the wireless timing system, as they are new to it this year. The fact that we have a year of experience with it enabled us to be of great help to them through the rough spots.

Our next meet is back home, where we host the Forest North Sting Rays. See below in this newsletter for arrival time and other details.

Email me any time with questions at board@wbarmada.org. For complete team information, visit www.wbarmada.org. Don't forget to check your folders daily. See you at practice!

Message from the Coaches.....

Hi Armada!

GREAT meet against the Block House Tidal Waves last weekend! I'm so proud of all the swimmers who participated. You guys have improved so much, and are dropping time from just last week! Continue to keep up the hard work at practice and it will definitely pay off! We only have 4 days this week, so try and come to as many as you can. Remember, we start morning practice on Friday!

A reminder to turn your MAFs in on time and write on there if you have to leave early or if you are going to be late. There are a number of people and some hard work that go into making relays happen and if you leave early without us knowing, it makes for some chaos. We know that things come up and happen, and if you must leave a meet last minute, please let your pit parent know or Coach Gina. Also, remember that we will try to put you in the 3 events that you sign up for, but sometimes we have to move people around to make the events more even. One of our goals as a team is improvement, so I strongly encourage you to sign up for events that you might not like to swim, or want to. You might surprise yourself!

This Saturday was pretty hot, but it's only going to get more hot! Bring water to practice to make sure that you are replenishing all the sweat (yes, you can sweat in the water!) that you are working off! Make sure that you are dressed like a rock star this weekend, as we will be having a contest who the best dressed boy and girl are. Congrats to the Justine and Elena Mauerer who rocked their pirate costumes! Also, congratulations to Felix Zuo to breaking the 13-14 boys 50 breaststroke record and Logan O'Reilly for his two new 11-12 records!

Keep up the hard work at the pool and GO ARMADA!!

Practice Schedule

Hi Parents!

We had a great meet on Saturday! Thank you to all of our parent volunteers!!!! Please remember to fill out the bottom half of your MAFs. This is the easiest way to communicate with me. If you tell me things to remember at meets or practices, I can almost guarantee I won’t remember. Thank you again for your patience and flexibility with the volunteer schedule.

As always, if you have any questions, please contact me at volunteers@wbarmada.org. Thanks for your help!

Practice Schedule

Our original schedule calls for morning practice to start June 7. However, due to a mix-up with the MUD, we need to move to morning practices this Friday, June 4. We understand that everyone may not be able to attend the Friday practice and we apologize for the inconvenience.

Parking
We ask that Armada Parents park in the parking lot across the street. The Pool parking lot is restricted on meet days to allow the visiting team access. If you have handicapped tags, please let the parking attendants know. Please respect the "no parking" signs where posted.

Meet Set-up Friday, June 4 at 8:30 pm
For a home meet, we must move all tables and chairs and put out ready benches, ropes and the announcer tables. If you signed up as part of the setup team for your volunteer assignment, or if you'd like to lend an extra hand, please be at the pool then. The morning of the meet, we need help setting up pop-up tents around the pool. We appreciate all the help we can get putting these tents up and taking them down at the end of the day.

Clean Up
We ask everyone to clean up the pit and pool areas before they leave. We are having too many items in the lost/found.

Checklist warm clothes for after warm-up in early a.m. Checklist Quiet activities to keep them occupied in the pit area between races

MAF Due Friday

The Meet Attendance Form for the "Tie-Dye" Balcones Country Club away meet is due Friday, June 4. Please put in the "completed" folder in the MAF Box.

EVERY swimmer should turn these forms in by the deadline. Mark the box indicating if you will swim or not.

We want all swimmers who are able to swim the length of the pool unassisted to participate in all meets. Swim Meets are an important part of being on the WBA. (We understand if you are out-of-town or unable to participate due to religious reasons.) We are a team - we need you!

This is a away meet and the arrival time has not been set yet. Balcones Country Club is located just a quick drive away near the intersection of Hwy 183 and Spicewood Springs. Take McNeil Drive past McNeil High School and under 183.
